Count Dracula is the titular vampire from Bram Stoker's 1897 gothic horror novel Dracula. Inspired by the real-life 15th-century Wallachian prince Vlad the Impaler, Dracula is known for his ability to turn people into vampires.
Having fallen into the public domain years ago, Dracula has appeared in and been parodied in many films, television shows, and other media, centered around Halloween and not. His best known screen portrayal was by Bela Lugosi in the 1931 Universal Pictures film simply titled Dracula; as such, many of Dracula's depictions since then have been inspired by Lugosi's portrayal.
