News
- In the 2026 Kidscreen Awards, "Close Encounters of the Nerd Kind" and "The Haunting of Miss McGravy's House" have been nominated for Best Holiday or Special Episode, while The Bad Guys: Haunted Heist is nominated for Best One-Off, Special or TV Movie, all in the Kids category.
- Drew Struzan, whose many movie posters included Hocus Pocus, died at the age of 78 on October 13th.
- Due to being unable to negotiate a new contract with Rogers Communications, WildBrain will cease broadcasting its Family channels (Family, Family Jr., WildBrainTV, and Télémagino) on October 22nd.
- At midnight on September 1st, Corus Entertainment ceased broadcasting of ABC Spark, the English-Canadian versions of Nickelodeon, Disney XD, Disney Jr., and the French-Canadian version of the Disney Channel (its English-Canadian counterpart is unaffected). In addition, Nickelodeon programming on YTV and Treehouse has also been removed, with the exceptions of PAW Patrol, Rubble & Crew and Peppa Pig for the latter. Corus has also announced that future production at Nelvana has temporarily been halted for the foreseeable future.
- Warner Bros. Discovery is splitting into two companies, separating its streaming and studios divisions (including Warner Bros. Television, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, DC Studios, HBO, HBO Max, and their respective film and television libraries) from its linear television business (including CNN, Bleacher Report, and Discovery+). At midnight on August 15th, HBO Family, MovieMax, OuterMax and ThrillerMax ceased broadcasting.
- Paramount Global (the company that owns MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, VH1, Logo, and, well, the Paramount Network) completed its long-delayed merger with Skydance Media on August 7th.
- The Walt Disney Company has officially completed its acquisition of Hulu, having purchased its last remaining stake from NBC Universal. As a result, Hulu will be merging into Disney+ within the next year.
