"Nightmare in Retroville" is the Halloween episode of the Nickelodeon animated series The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, produced and aired as the seventh episode of the show's second season.
Synopsis[]
It's Halloween night in Retroville, and as Carl and Sheen are discussing who they plan to go trick-or-treating as, Jimmy tells them that he will not be trick-or-treating this year. He instead offers to to help give them really scary-looking costumes in exchange for 25% of their candy (though Sheen foolishly offers to give half of his candy). In his lab, Jimmy presents his Neutronic Monster Maker, which can transform anyone into whatever monster they want. Carl chooses to be a vampire, and Sheen chooses to be a werewolf.
As they're out trick-or-treating (using Jimmy's hovercar so they can get to more houses), however, Carl cuts his finger trying to open a candy wrapper; he then drinks his own blood dripping from his finger and says he wants more, as he has now become a real vampire. He turns into a bat and flies off. Then Sheen sees the full moon and, now becoming a real werewolf, tries to attack Jimmy. Realizing that his Monster Maker has affected his pals' DNA, Jimmy jumps back in his hovercar, and immediately flies off with Goddard. After hiding out in the park, Jimmy has Goddard give him all the information he can about vampires (they feed on the blood of the living, can turn their victims into vampires, are repelled by garlic, and can only be destroyed by a wooden stake driven into their heart). Ms. Fowl then appears to tell him that werewolves can turn other people into werewolves by biting them and they can only be destroyed by silver objects (she knows this because she was married to a werewolf once).
Back at Jimmy's house, Hugh accidentally falls into Jimmy's lab and accidentally turns himself into Frankenstein's Monster. Judy, thinking her husband made himself a wonderful costume, goes to put on her costume and gives Hugh a lighter, which he quickly throws out the door. Hugh then goes to the Candy Bar where Sam is playing his violin. Judy then shows up, in her Bride of Frankenstein costume, and tells Hugh she needs help at home giving out fruit snacks. Hugh does not listen, takes her in his arms, and goes off.
Meanwhile, Carl finds Cindy, hypnotizes her, and and makes her a vampire too, while Sheen finds Libby and turns her into a werewolf. When Jimmy finds Carl and Cindy walking together, Cindy hisses at Jimmy, revealing that she has become a vampire with Carl. They transform into bats and chase Jimmy in attempt to turn him into a vampire too; fortunately, they are then scared off when Jimmy stands in front of the display window of Lucky Tony's House of Garlic. He and Goddard go into the alley where Sheen and Libby sneak up on him. When Jimmy and Goddard hear growling they nervously turn around to see Libby has become a werewolf with Sheen, prompting Jimmy to gasp in horror and turn to Goddard telling him "Sheen must have bitten Libby". They then snarl and growl as they chase Jimmy out of the alley until he stands in front of the display window of the Hi Ho Silver Store, which scares them off. Then, Hugh, holding Judy, comes onto the sidewalk, running into Jimmy, leading him to realize that his dad has turned into a monster too. The other monsters meet up with the three on the sidewalk. Sheen and Carl attack Hugh while Cindy and Libby are fighting. Judy breaks up the fight by telling them all to work it among themselves. However, the monsters conclude that they should instead scare other people.
Jimmy goes to his lab and uses the Monster Maker on himself, lowering the settings so that his DNA will not change like the others' did. The monsters go to the Candy Bar where Sam and Miss Fowl call up an angry mob, armed with silver, garlic, and fire. They chase the monsters into the golf course, where Jimmy suddenly arrives, having turned himself into Hugh's favorite movie monster, Octopus Man, to rescue the group. After Jimmy turns his dad and his friends back to normal, his friends realize that they left their candy behind, but Jimmy says he can fix that as Octopus Man, and goes around town ringing doorbells with his eight arms.

- Jimmy references the episode's number by referring to the Monster Maker as his "27th greatest invention".
- Cindy's costume is "Muffy the Vampire Annihilator", which is a parody of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
- This Halloween episode has a similar plot to The Fairly OddParents Halloween episode, "Scary Godparents".

The episode was made available on the Jimmy Timmy Power Hour 2 DVD, released by Paramount Home Entertainment on March 14, 2006. It was later included on the show's Best of Season 2 manufacture-on-demand set, released exclusively on Amazon.com on September 5, 2008. Its next home video release will be on The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius: The Complete Series DVD set, to be released by Shout! Factory on October 26, 2021.
