Oscar is a character from the series, Nico. He is a bully and one of Nico's classmates. He is often seen chewing and blowing bubblegum, and uses Nico or his dog, Tom, to fool either of them into tripping or get into predicaments. He has his ways of manipulating them. His picking on Nico is out of jealously due to him thinking he's stealing his thunder. He's biased towards Nico and others like him for their blindness. He's frequently accompanied by his henchman/sidekick, Flappy. Throughout most of the series, Oscar was voiced by Jason Griffith in the English dub.

About Oscar[]

Oscar and Flappy are walking on the sidewalk when they happen to come across Nico and his friends, who are out trick-or-treating. Oscar, dressed as a blind man, tells Nico and the others that he and Flappy are going to have a look inside Mr. Caifas's mansion instead of trick-or-treating as he thinks that's for babies. Oscar also makes fun of Nico, telling him he should've gone as a monster, explaining why he's dressed as a blind man. Nico makes a comeback at him by saying that no matter what he's dressed up as, he'll always be the monster. Patty and Aisha are amused by this. Patty then defends Nico from Oscar by telling him he's the monster and advises him not to come to the cemetery where they'll meet at midnight. After Flappy quoted what his dad said, Oscar pulls him along and away. Nico, Patty, Aisha, and Tom then decide to join Oscar and Flappy, and head towards Mr. Caifas's home as well. Hertha and Bertha, Charlie, and the chameleon, Boris, carry on with their trick-or-treating.

When Oscar and Flappy arrive at the mansion, the former tries climbing over one of the walls in the front yard, but the latter tells him it would be more polite to ring the doorbell. Just as Oscar reaches the top of the wall, Flappy informs him that he found a hole at the bottom they can enter. After Oscar loses his balance and falls over the wall to the other side, he gets annoyed that Flappy didn't let him know sooner, asking why he didn't tell him that. As he begins to smack Flappy upside the head, the latter cowers, but he tells him to come on and he follows Oscar. When they go to the backdoor, Oscar tells Flappy they should enter through there. But Flappy says they have to be careful about this as there could be booby traps around the home. Sure enough, Flappy is right as he happens to step into one, a cage appears closing up on him, entrapping him, and a rope pulls him up high into a tree, leaving him suspended. Oscar continues on his own. He touches the door knob and a top panel compartment door opens, revealing a stretching spring with a boxing glove attached to it, attempting to knock him out, but misses as he bends over and ducks, oblivious to it. He decides to remove his sunglasses as he can't see a thing while wearing them and to prevent tripping, and falling as he goes inside the home. He notices an aroma he smells is something strange and that knowing Mr. Caifas, he must be cooking something disgusting. In the kitchen, there's lightning, smoke, and a puff of smoke shaped like a monster emitting from the spout of a tea kettle that's heating on the stove. The smoke monster tries to bite or eat Oscar, but again, Oscar is unaware as it misses and he walks away. A mouse is eating a hunk of Swiss cheese as Oscar steps over him, but ends up getting one foot caught in a mousetrap. Oscar struggles to get it off while the mouse is amused by this. Nico and his friends eventually arrive at the mansion too and not aware of what's going on with Oscar, they hear his cries. Presuming he must be in danger, they head inside to rescue him. As Mr. Caifas enters his kitchen, he happens to catch Oscar and chases after him. While doing this, lightning strikes Mr. Caifas's behind and he complains about how he hates him and the other kids.

After going into another room in the mansion, Oscar backs away, saying to himself he's not afraid when he walks backwards into Nico. Oscar is startled by him, but Nico tells him to relax as he'll get them out of there. Oscar rejects his help, doubting that blind people can do anything. A feminine voice is suddenly heard asking about who says that blind people can't do anything, finding that objectionable. The voice belongs to a spirit named Maria Theresia von Paradis, a 17th-century Austrian, classical composer and pianist. Frightened, Oscar stutters that she's a ghost. As Mr. Caifas wields a net and confronts Oscar, Nico and Tom, he begins to go after them. Maria says he needs to relax and magically makes Mr. Caifas dance while she takes the boys, and Tom, into her past to prove Oscar wrong. They enter her room where they watch her past and formerly live self practicing her piano. Oscar folds his arms and turns away, insisting he doesn't talk to ghosts. She tells them that despite her blindness, she still was capable of defying the odds of pursuing her dream. Oscar starts to leave, but Maria pulls him back, telling him she's not finished and he apologizes. She takes them to another part of her life to the time she gave a concert performance to a small audience. When Oscar and Nico get there, they're dressed in the fashion of the time. Oscar exclaims as he lands in a chair and a male audience member shushes him for silence. After Oscar, Nico, and Tom are returned to the mansion, they meet another ghost, this time a male one who confronts Mr. Caifas about what he said about the blind's incapabilities before transporting Oscar and the others to his past. This ghost introduces himself as Long Capaceous, a formerly blind sculptor, and Oscar tries to exit again before having a collision with a tree. In spite of Long explaining he still managed to sculpt well even with the handicap he had, Oscar still doesn't believe it, telling him the blind can't sculpt. Long asks him how he knows this is so, considering that Oscar has never really been blind himself. After Long shows Nico and Tom the works he made, he snaps his fingers and Oscar sees a floating head of a statue of Tom. When Oscar is brought back to the mansion, the statue head becomes Mr Caifas. Oscar grabs Mr. Caifas by his collar, demanding to let him out of there. Mr. Caifas says he's having a nightmare in disbelief and flees his kitchen. After Nico and Tom have returned also, Oscar tells Nico to get away from him. Nico gladly pushes him away and tells him that's fine as he'll find his way out by himself. Just as he's about to do just that, Patty and Aisha exit a vent in the kitchen and land hard on the floor after sliding down the chute that took them to it.

Later, while Nico, Patty, Aisha, and Tom walk through an upstairs hallway, Aisha tries to take a candle to light up the hall, but accidentally pulls a lever designed like one. The wall turns and the girls are revolved into another room. On the other side of that wall is Oscar, who ends up in the hall with Nico and Tom once it stops turning. Oscar wonders how he got there as Tom barks and lunges at him. Oscar jumps back when Mr. Caifas confronts them again. Oscar sacrifices Nico to Mr. Caifas, telling Mr. Caifas to take him instead and Nico tells Oscar not to desert him. A flash of light appears and Oscar runs back to the direction he came, jumping into Mr. Caifas's arms. Another male spirit has shown up, prompting Oscar and Mr. Caifas to high-tail it to another room. The spirit says he thinks Oscar and Mr. Caifas have learned their lesson, then comments on how neither of them could ever be astronauts. The spirit passes through a wall and into a room where Nico and Tom are, telling them not to mind what Oscar and Mr. Caifas say. He then takes Nico and Tom into his past, introducing himself as Lewis Flory, a formerly blind mathematician. He tells them he had to come up with alternate ways of working with numbers since he was sightless, but he still succeeded in doing well in that. Back in the mansion, Patty is ready to go. Oscar, who's on the floor cowering in fear, is asked by Patty if he's coming. Oscar begins to join them, but the bust of Lewis's spirit appears, frightening Oscar as he dashes off between the girls, causing them to fall over on the floor. The three then huddle closely as they move cautiously through the hallway before meeting Nico and Tom again. Oscar has had more than enough and is ready to leave. While walking down a stairway, the steps are flattened and the stairway is turned into a slide, causing Oscar and the others to slide down it.

Oscar, Nico, and Tom emerge from a couple cellar doors and exit into the backyard. Oscar's hands are smoking, possibly from friction burn, saying they're so hot, they're burning. With Flappy still trapped in the cage, Nico tells Oscar they've got to get him down, but Oscar still doubts the sightless can do anything. Unexpectedly, there's an earthquake and flowers, and shrubbery seem to grow out of nowhere. Oscar wonders where they came from and a third male ghost explains they're the result of the comment he made about the blind. Mr. Caifas confronts the boys once more with a machete and the third male ghost drives him away by sending a bee swarm from his hat after him. This ghost takes Nico and Tom into his past, explaining that he was a blind botanist and chemist, and how he still was able to be those well without sight. After Nico and Tom are brought back to the backyard, Oscar is carried by one of the ghosts, who is now invisible as well as the others, and he's thrown out of the cemetery. As Patty and Aisha go off together, the former quips that's what she calls "flying off the handle".

Once Flappy is brought back down and set free, almost everybody has reunited at the cemetery. But they notice Oscar is missing. Unbeknownst to them, Oscar hides behind a tombstone as he prepares to fire a slingshot. Then, he feels a long, stretchy, sticky tongue licking his face. The tongue belongs to Boris, now having taken the form of a tombstone. Oscar, scared out of his wits, flees the cemetery while vowing not to be mean to the blind anymore.
