Solo is a character from the sports, comedy, animated series, Ballybraddan. Solo is known for being enigmatic, due to often carrying around a hurley with him, despite not actually being a hurler. Originally from Crattan, he recently moved to Ballybraddan. He's clandestine as he prefers not to talk about his past in Crattan. It's late revealed that he was a victim of bullying, but he doesn't let that bother him so much in spite of it.
Appearances in Halloween Specials[]
Solo and Sam are at Soc's house, listening to Soc's dad tell the story about a Ballybraddan legend. Soc tells his dad that everyone has already heard it all before, but Solo and Sam insist that neither of them have, and are intrigued to hear it. Soc's dad lets his son tell it, since he thinks he can do better and that's just what he does. The story Soc tells involves one of Ballybraddan's residents, Ned Hanratty, that years ago, because of a supposed curse, Ned was forced to keep moving a rock until it was brought to its destination: Boring Durka.
Solo is then seen at the local library when Ned enters, commenting that he sees plenty of mistletoe but no blood oranges. He also mentions that Ziggy doesn't have to have any mistletoe to ward off the curse of werewolves if he's not interested in any. When Aisling tells Ned he can have one instead, he suddenly has to leave the library, seemingly frightened off by the mistletoe, explaining he's allergic to it as it gives him a rash.
Later that night, Solo and the other kids listen to a story involving a trick-or-treater who became a victim of the local curse told by Aidan. The story is interrupted when they hear what sounds like a wolf howl coming from outside the garage. After Aidan resumes and finishes the story, the kids hear the howl again. As the possible werewolf begins to open the garage door and enter, Solo and Ziggy prepare to defend themselves and the others, as the former hands the latter dipping eggs to attack the werewolf. When that fails, Ziggy tries throwing mistletoe. When that also fails, the true identity of the werewolf is revealed. It's Ned Hanratty, who removes the werewolf mask and false fangs. Ned clears up everything for Ziggy.
Towards the end, Solo and his mom get ready to leave their house for the Halloween party. He tells her they don't want to be late and his mom removes the fake Ballybraddan Legends cover from the front of the Folklores of Europe book before they head out the door.
