"The Scariest Story Ever: A Mickey Mouse Halloween Spooktacular!" is a special extended Halloween episode of the Disney Channel animated short series A Mickey Mouse Cartoon, originally released as a direct-to-video special on September 26, 2017,[1] before making its televised premiere on October 8th of the same year.

Plot[]

For Halloween, Mickey has tricked out his house like a “tomb, sweet, tomb” and along with his pals, Donald and Goofy, plans to tell hair-raising Halloween stories! However, his attempt at being scary falls flatter than a pancake. Can Mickey conjure up a truly terrifying tale before the stroke of midnight?

The special made its home video debut on the Mickey Mouse: Merry & Scary DVD, released on September 26, 2017. As indicated by the title, the DVD features it alongside the special Christmas episode, "Duck the Halls: A Mickey Mouse Christmas Special", and also includes five regular episodes of the series - "Ghoul Friend", "The Boiler Room", "Black & White", "Entombed", and "Split Decision".

Trivia[]

  • The special marks the first appearance of Mickey's nephews, Morty and Ferdie, in this particular series, and also their first appearance in animation since their roles as Tiny Tim and Peter Cratchit in Mickey's Christmas Carol.
  • Goofy's costume is based on Super Goof, his superhero form from the comics.
  • Huey, Dewey and Louie's costumes are the same ones they wore in Trick or Treat.
  • The Steamboat Willie riverboat briefly appears outside Mickey's window.
  • A portrait of the Twins from "Duck the Halls: A Mickey Mouse Christmas Special" can be seen on the wall of Mickey's house.
